Dr. Neil Welborne, D.D.S.
Dr. Neil Welborne is from Charlotte and graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1983. He attended North Carolina State University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. He then attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received a Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1992. He spent a year working for the North Carolina Health Department and a year as an Associate in a Statesville practice with Dr. M.L. Dorton before beginning this practice in 1994. Originally, Dr. Welborne practiced solo, but eventually, the practice expanded to include Dr. White and then Dr. Welborne, White, and Schmidt.
Dr. Welborne is a member of the American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Society, and Seattle Study Club. He has received the Best of the Lake Award for the past 5 years in a row. He is certified in Invisalign and Sedation Dentistry. He participates in charitable programs and he loves getting to know patients and helping them achieve optimal oral health and beautiful smiles.
Dr. Welborne is married to Mary Lynn, and together they have seven children and two grandchildren. For fun, he participates in fishing, hunting, hiking, and spending time outdoors at his favorite get away cabin in Virginia with his family.
Dr. Martin White, D.D.S.
Dr. Martin White is from Charlotte. He attended Davidson College and Chapel Hill School of Dentistry, and he’s been with our practice since 1997. His memberships include the American Dental Association and the North Carolina Dental Association, and he’s received a Charlotte Top Dentist award in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012.
Dr. White has continued his education, graduating from programs in advanced esthetics, occlusion, and implant dentistry. He loves having the opportunity to change patients’ smiles and improving how they see themselves. There is nothing more gratifying than having a patient look at their new smile and tell him how happy they are.
Dr. White and his wife Shannon have four children, and he enjoys running, mountain biking, basketball, and staying involved in various activities with his kids.
Dr. Chris Schmidt, D.D.S.
Dr. Chris Schmidt has been practicing dentistry for over a decade. He graduated with a BS in Biology in 2003 from the University of Memphis, where he also captained the University’s men’s soccer team. He stayed in Memphis and attended the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2007.
Dr. Schmidt strives to stay at the forefront of dentistry. He has taken special continuing education courses including a one-year general dentistry residency, a Comprehensive Implant Residency Program specializing in implant placement and bone grafting, and a pediatric dentistry course. He brings with him special skills including sedation dentistry in the forms of pill sedation and IV sedation, wisdom teeth removal, and bone grafting and advanced implant placement.
Dr. Schmidt served as a dentist in the United States Air Force for 7 years before leaving the service and moving back to his wife Claire’s hometown of Davidson and joining Welborne, White, and Schmidt in 2014.
Dr. Schmidt truly enjoys dentistry and strives to make all patients feel comfortable in the dental chair. He wants all of his patients to love how their teeth look and feel.
In his spare time, Dr. Schmidt plays soccer, runs, bikes, swims, travels and delights in being ‘daddy’ to his 3 children, Braxton, Cora and Adam.
